Winter in Kurigram

 


Winter in Dhaka has not started yet properly. But the scenario in Kurigram is totally different. People of Kurigram have been facing cold weather for two months already. The average annual lowest temperature of Kurigram is 10.8°C. In 2022 Rajarhat Upazila  in Kurigram had the nation's coldest temperature with a brisk 6.1°C. The scenario of a winter morning in Kurigram is different. Due to the


region's decreased rainfall this year, the harshness of the winter may worsen. The sky is overcast and foggy. The trees in the distance resemble  watercolor stills that have been painted on canvas. Orange sunlight can be seen peeping through the fog layer. Dew drops have started to fall since midnight. Vehicles are traveling while turning on their headlights due to the dense fog on the road. Additionally, low-income workers are having problems arriving at work on time, they must accelerate. As nightfall approaches, the temperature begins to fall, the amount of fog increases as the night goes on, and the cold begins to dissipate as the sun rises.




Since the cold, northerly winds have been blowing for a few days, the winter is getting worse. In this, both the number of senior patients and the number of youngsters with illnesses linked to the common cold issing, breathing difficulties, diarrhea that is chilly, and skin issues People who are poor or have low incomes suffer more during the cold. Day laborers and other hard workers must toil through the winter. A small part of a dream comes true when purchasing winter clothing. Due to a lack of funds, there are not many individuals shopping for cheap winter clothing in the city though it is winter.


Winter just makes working people's misery worse. Poor folks are preparing for the winter by burning old clothes or straw due to limited income. The district's agricultural laborers are the ones who are suffering the most from the cold. The boro plantation has been disturbed owing to the cold in Konkan since the workers are unable to work in the field adequately even though the boro crop season is still in full swing. Although winter is preferred by many people, it is very difficult for people in poor cities like Kurigram.
